Launch of new Personal (care) Assistant Register for residents
For some people, everyday tasks can be difficult to achieve without assistance. It becomes necessary for them to find some extra support, and an increasing number of people turn to personal assistants (PAs).
Haringey Council has launched a new Personal Assistant (PA) Register to make the process a little easier. The register provides residents with all the information they need to safely employ a PA of their choice to help them in their day to day life and supports people that would like to become PAs to have a place to advertise their availability and skills.
Different to the more traditional agency care, this gives the person requiring assistance flexibility, choice and control over their care and is a great option for those who want to continue living independently, yet require a little bit of extra support to do so.
A Haringey Council spokesperson said: “We are delighted to launch our PA Finder which will help people across the borough access the support they need to live their life on their terms.
“Employing a PA can be a liberating experience. It supports both parties to get to know each other better, builds trust and highlights the opportunities for progression and development.
“PAs come from all walks of life from students to retirees and we urge anyone who thinks a career in care could be for them to look up the opportunities available and to become part of an essential and growing profession.”
