Who are we?

Ruils is a local charity that supports children and adults with disabilities and the elderly to live independently, be part of their community and to live life to the full. We provide information, advice, befriending and activities to our clients and their families. We are a registered charity (no: 1127896) and a charitable company limited by guarantee (England and Wales no. 6682677).

When you use our website and provide information to us, Ruils is the data controller of your personal information. We process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and any other applicable legislation (referred to as the ‘data protection legislation’).  We adhere to the principles of data protection, as set out in the Data Protection Act 2018, and observe the conditions relating to the fair and lawful processing of personal data.  

How do we collect information about you?

We obtain information about you when you use our website or our sister websites: www.find-a-pa.co.uk and www.employ-a-pa.co.uk. For example, when you make a donation on our website, contact us about our services, register as a personal assistant or if you consent to receive our monthly newsletter.

At times we may provide links to other websites, but please remember we are not responsible for them, and these websites would have their own privacy policies and/or terms and conditions of use.

Under 16

We take our responsibility of protecting the privacy of children aged 16 or under seriously. If you are aged 16 or under, please obtain your parent/guardian's permission, before you provide any personal information to us. What type of information do we collect from you?
The personal information we collect might include your full name, gender, title, postal address, email address, IP address, donation and gift aid details (if you donate to us), any other information you enter into our websites  and information regarding what pages are accessed and when. If you make a donation or payment online, your card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processors, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions, as explained below.

How will we use your information?

When you visit our website and sign up for any of our services, the information that you provide enables us to be more accurate in providing the services you have requested from us.

With your consent, we will use your personal data to:

• Provide the information or service that you have requested from us

• Provide information, which we believe may interest you, including Ruils’ monthly newsletter, updates on our services, information on community events, information relating to our fundraising campaigns, voluntary surveys or questionnaires for you to complete and details of relevant volunteering opportunities. When we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have contracts in place that require them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes

How long do we hold your information?

To meet our legal data protection and privacy obligations, we only hold on to your personal information for as long as our work with you requires it. Your information is held securely on our database and on the Ruils secure server. What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of my information? 

When you give us personal information, we take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely. Any sensitive information is encrypted and protected with the following software 128 Bit encryption on SSL. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Ruils cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. Where we have given (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our websites, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

Use of 'cookies'

Like many other websites, the Ruils website uses cookies.
